Women Deliver Global Conference, Copenhagen, Denmark, May 16-19, 2016 — Karen Hanrahan was a key speaker at the world’s largest global conference on the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women in the last decade. The focus of the conference was on how to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) so they matter most for girls and women with a specific focus on health – in particular maternal sexual and reproductive health and rights – and on gender equality education environment and economic empowerment. About Karen: Karen Hanrahan joined the Center for Reproductive Rights in 2015 and serves as a member of the Center’s executive management team. She oversees the Center’s legal and policy work in the U.S., Latin America, Asia, Africa, Europe, and at the U.N. Karen served in the Obama administration from 2009 until 2015, most recently as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Democracy and Human Rights, where she provided vision and leadership to shape U.S. Government policy and programs for Africa, South and Central Asia, Business and Human Rights, International Labor Affairs, and Security and Human Rights.
